Tour with a Difference


I always stand amazed at the privilege it is to do the things that I do... April 11 to 27 was no exception, having 83 young people and adults travel
to Johannesburg SA to;

• Feed the poor
• Build relief housing
• Attend Super 15 Rugby in Loftus Park
• Play the Blue Bull’s from Pretoria
• AND here the good news of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said that He came that we might have life, and have it abundantly. This April was a season of abundance for all those who attended. And NO, it was not easy, it was hard. Sleeping in camping facilities with cold showers, sometimes in the rain, mixing concrete by hand, filling in a 250m long trench and putting in 12 hour days... But the group LOVED it.. why.. They were building memories, living life and doing so much more than existing.

Jim Rayburn used to say. “It is a sin to bore a kid with the gospel”. Often I believe that we have taken this saying out of context, focusing on creating ‘fun’. I believe it is not about entertaining kids but about making life rich. That what youth do this day is worth their time, putting meaning into their existence, building a memory, and engaging the wonders of life.

This year’s work camp had its challenges with cold weather, unreliable bus scheduling, and even I was hit by a car on my birthday. But it was the way that the leaders and the staff came together to flex, overcome and move forward that really made the mark on the lives of the kids...

We do not go out of our way to ask for conversions at a camp like this. We speak the truth of the gospel, we live the truth of the gospel and we pray that lives change. But no matter who attends they cannot get away from the fact that they can see the abundant life that is available and possible with Jesus Christ as their guide.

Please continue to pray for these youth that became so excited about life while on this trip. Pray for their leaders that have come home to debrief them in their world, so that applications can be made personally and locally. Pray that they long for more adventures at this level, that draws them to the Cross because they see there is so much more to life. Pray for those who did figure out their relationship with Jesus Christ to come back and effect change within their local churches spreading the experience of abundant life...

Thoughout this year the only thing constant is change, the one thing that never  changes is our goal to remain faithful to Christ and continue to do our part to build His kingdom either physically or spiritually.  Whether that is; continuing on with the YMP trips, building schools and orphanages through Hope for the Nations and Rainbow FM, creating affordable gated housing in South Africa via the new venture of CHS (Container Housing Solutions)  or even returning to Middle Park to keep the camp moving forward our focus is the same.   WE are HIS workmanship created to do good works IN Christ.  WE all have one life to live and WE all will continue to have an audience of only one that really matters, now and forever.  My prayer is that WE all continue to think about our time on earth here in that light…. There truly is no 'I' in Team.....

     Middle Park Camp      As we complete the take-down of the 2016 Middle Park Camp I must admit I am trying to figure out where the summer has gone.  (Normally in Wales it is on a Tuesday) (Kidding) More importantly how everything was setup, used, taken down and stored with such precision.  I can only attribute that to the remarkable team that has grown over the past 9 years of summer camp here in Middle Park now under the leadership of Howell & Nita Hodgett.   Not only was the Wales National MP3 camp held, but new to our calendar the Sporting Marvels group from the Rhonda Valley, the Farmers Community Network prayer meeting and a wedding.  Most work was completed this year by not only our regular volunteers but also a concerted effort by a group of local farmers who have adopted the camp and see its value in the local Christian community.  I must admit that as I washed the dishes for the MP3 camp and facilitated pr...

(Read with a deep movie promoters voice) From the makers of ‘ where in the world is Carmen San Diego’ …… And ‘ Where’s Waldo’ or ‘Where’s Wally’ if you happen to live in the UK.   Here comes the epic 2020 sequel… Where’s Bill? 2019 in red   2020 in blue I must admit that the last year has been a bit of a blur.   Facebook was kind enough to tell me that I have actually visited and worked in 9 countries in 2019 …    It has been the best of times and the worst of times, but through it all we continue to try to remained faithful to the One… As many of you know as a family we have been transitioning out of the UK since 2015.   However, with changes in the commercial South Africa opportunities, the collapse of our house sale in Rhyl and with constantly expanding opportunities to help NGO’s around the world, the transition has been anything but quick or smoot...
